"Phir Mile Sur "

Hello friends….!

This has been a long time dream and I am happy that I have started to write finally.
With my busy schedule I always wonder how to start of my pleasure of writing and from where…Every time I sit with my computer to start they were so many topics which I want to share…But always stuck which one to be the first…Couple of days back when I was discussing about this with my husband he happened to get me this idea of writing about my own country’s Sur

Phir Mile Sur

I hope everyone remember the song “MILE SUR MERA TUMARA”…This was the song which touched every heart of an Indian and which got the goose flesh to everyone who watches this song….
I still remember the days when I use to wait on Sundays 9 am to watch this song on DD (Doordarshan) everyone at home used to assemble at the TV for this song …
This was one song which focused on national integration and unity of India. And it also got the sense of pride in highlighting the different linguistic communities and their cultures that live in INDIA.

This video MILE SUR MERA TUMARA was first telecasted on 15th August 1988 on DD. And it captured so many hearts then….

After 22 years this song has been again re-recorded and got on television on 26 Jan 2010 by Zoom TV...It has same lyrics but the appearances of the language changed …And the new version is called as “PHIR MILE SUR”…

It is a nice thing that people still thought about re-venturing this video to bring awareness of unity in diversity for the younger generation of India…There was another good thing about it was the rock touch that they have used in between to capture the younger generation…And also showcasing sign language for the challenged crowd and ending with Indian Armed Forces.
But many of us thought it did not bring the warmth and spirit that the old version had in it…It was very disappointing as the music could have been still better and more than focusing on national integration it was showcased the Hindi Film Industry.
There were many personalities which were not shown like APJ Abdul Kalam, Sachin Tendulkar, Narayan Murthy, Vishwanath Anand and Sania Mirza from the younger generation.

There was one big disappointing that they were no one to represent Karnataka…Instead of Kavita Krishnamurthy who is not from Karnataka it would have given the fame if Deepika and Aishwarya had sung in Kannada instead of Hindi which would have got the warmth for the very own Karnataka……

The SOUL of the Original Mile Sur which was Enchanting in old version is LOST!

nice topic, definitly this song makes every indian nostalgic...!
miss those days when artists were so creative and tunes and lyrics were melodious and rich...
    when compared to contemprory artists...!
wish even now new talents come up with something as amazing it was in those days rather than remixing the song and contaminating the richness of it...! :) nice blog.
